KARACHI: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of police on Friday brought out that the mobile phones snatched in Karachi were being smuggled to Iran, ARY News reported.
This was revealed after CTD operation wing in a big operation arrested three culprits involved in more than 100 incidents of cell phone snatching.
SSP Pervez Chandio said the phones were sold after flashing them. He said the suspects used to sell cheaper phone sets in Karachi and smuggle expensive ones to Iran. “Several dozens cell phones were smuggled to Iran through Balochistan,” he said.
He said weapons were also recovered from their possession.
The SSP said they would carry out criminal activities in SITE area, Sher Shah, Pak Colony and Baldia Town. He said they belonged to Lyari Gang War’s Jabbar Langra Group.

Separately, Sindh Rangers arrested 14 suspects alleged to be involved in different crimes.
The Rangers spokesman said the culprits were arrested in raids conducted in different areas of the megalopolis including Saudabad, Surjani and Baldia Town.
He said the culprits included those also who were involved in altering International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers.
CTD officials said efforts were underway to arrest other members of the gang.
