Gen Sharif highlights Kashmir issue, discusses regional security with Kerry

According to the ISPR, Mr. Kerry welcomed Pakistani defense delegation headed by Gen Sharif. He emphasized that US relations with Pakistan are independent of all other countries.

At the meeting between the two sides, regional security with particular emphasis on Afghanistan and India, and measures for stability dominated the discussion.

The US Secretary of State acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions and enormous sacrifices in fight against terror.

On the occasion, General Raheel Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s perspective of regional security, need for resolution of Kashmir issue, Afghan-owned reconciliation process and challenges in this regard.

The COAS reiterated Pakistan’s desire to solidify Pak-US relations based on mutual interest and respect.

Other meetings

Pakistan’s Army Chief General Raheel Sharif spent a busy day in Pentagon.

Apart of US Secretary Defence, General Raheel Sharif also held meetings with Deputy Secretary Defence, Chief of Joint Committee Staff General Dunford, Chief of Army Staff General Milley and Commander CentCom General Austin.

In Pentagon meetings General Raheel Sharif discussed defence cooperation, strengthening military to military ties, regional security, need for enhanced coordination and increased training exchanges were discussed.

Later, US CJCS General Dunford hosted banquet in honor of Pakistan’s Army Chief at Fort Myer. General Austin and General Milley and others attended the banquet.
