According to details, proceedings for the Abdul Rashid Ghazi murder case were underway at a sessions court in Islamabad. Additional District and Sessions Judge Pervez-ul-Qadir Memon presided over the hearing.
Section Officer ECL Dr. Waqar Maqsood represented Interior Secretary Arif Ahmad Khan at the hearing while the Inspector General was represented by Azhar Shah. Expressing anger at the decision to allow Musharraf to travel abroad, the Additional District and Sessions Judge stated that action will be taken in accordance with the law.
The Sindh High
Court had given the verdict to have Musharraf’s name thrown out from the Exit Control List (ECL). Following the decision, the federal government challenged the verdict in an appeal with the Supreme Court. However, the Supreme Court of Pakistan had upheld the decision of the Sindh High Court and stated that it was the prerogative of the federal government whether or not Musharraf was to be allowed to travel abroad.
After his name was discarded from the ECL, Musharraf left Pakistan for abroad.
