ISLAMABAD: Caretaker information minister Syed Ali Zafar says the government will implement the accountability court’s decision that convicted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and members of his family in the Avenfield case.
He said legal process in the case would be followed from Monday.
The minister said the caretaker government would also implement orders of the court regarding confiscation of the property of the convicts.
He said Mr. Sharif has the right to file an appeal against the court decision.
Mr. Zafar said the former premier and his daughter Maryam Nawaz would be brought back to Pakistan with the help of the British government. However, he said Pakistan does not have extradition treaty with Britain.
Replying to a question, the minister said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is a constitutional institution and the government cannot interfere in its affairs.
To a question about Capt (Retd) Muhammad Safdar, he said NAB is taking action to arrest him.
