Govt committed to fast-track completion of power projects: PM

LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday said power generation projects were being completed at a fast track and thousands of megawatts electricity would soon be added to the national grid.

“$36 billion are being spent on power projects. While, Rs112 billion were saved in three 3600 megawatt LNG-power projects,” he said while addressing workers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in Lahore.

He said power generation reached its highest level of over 19,000 megawatt two days back which was a record. He said the law and order situation and economic indicators in the country had improved significantly.

The prime minister appreciated the Punjab government for completing record development projects in the province and termed Orange line and metro bus service as real service of the masses.

Meanwhile, chairing a high-level meeting in Lahore, Nawaz Sharif directed quality control, transparency and timely completion of all projects under the 2017-18 Annual Development Programme of Punjab.

He expressed satisfaction over the pace of progress and said his government’s focus was on welfare of the masses.

The PM said the objective of the projects should be to provide maximum relief to the people and ensure availability of all facilities at their door steps.
