Govt committed to resolve issues of GB people: FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the government is committed to provide full assistance for welfare of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

Talking to Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Governor Raja Jalal Hussain, who called on him at his office on Wednesday in federal capital, Shah Mehmood Qureshi assured him to resolve the problems being faced by the provincial government.

The foreign minister said that issue of provincial status of Gilgit Baltistan has been included in the priority agenda of the Cabinet meeting to fulfill the lingering demand of the people of the area as soon as possible.

Matters of mutual interest, status of province to to Gilgit-Baltistan and other issues were came under discussion in the meeting.

It is pertinent to mention here that the  federal government, on November 15, had constituted a committee, following earlier instructions from the Supreme Court (SC), to review the legal status of Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B).

The seven-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, had given 15 days deadline the to the committee to reach a decision regarding the province matter.
