ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the authorities concerned to continue to take measures for the repatriation of former finance minister Ishaq Dar.
Headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, a bench of the apex court gave this direction while hearing a case with regard to the PML-N leader’s repatriation.
A federal law officer told the judges that the Ministry of Interior had cancelled Dar’s diplomatic as well as normal passports, besides blacklisting him. At present, the former finance minister doesn’t have any travel documents, he added.
Then, how would Dar return to the country, asked the CJP.
The Additional Attorney General said there are certain ways to bring him back to Pakistan.
Pointing to Attorney General Anwar Mansoor Khan, the Chief Justice asked if he has looked into the matter. If the state is still unable to bring Ishaq Dar back, he further questioned.
At this, the AG said the government will have to approach the UK courts for the purpose.
A NAB prosecutor informed that the assets and properties of the former finance minister, who has been declared a fugitive by an accountability court in an assets case over absence, have been identified and that the proceedings to confiscate them are underway.
Yesterday, the Attorney General Office submitted a report in the apex court, informing that the diplomatic passports of Dar and his wife have been cancelled while their normal passports have been blacklisted.
