The decision to deploy the paramilitary was taken in view of security concerns, and at the request of the provincial government. This was disclosed by sources within the Ministry of Health, which said that the Ministry of Interior has given instruction to the Commandant FC.
The commandant was instructed to deploy paramilitary troops accordingly in the most sensitive districts of the province, including Mansehra, Battagram, Lakki Marwat, Karak, Hangu, Swabi and D.I. Khan.
The anti-polio vaccination drive is being held in KP, Balochistan and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) from May 16 to 18, where polio drops are being administered to children most vulnerable to the disease.
