ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Tuesday said the government aimed to build the ‘first truly media university’ which would include dedicated technological hub for the future generations of Pakistan.
He said this while chairing a meeting about the establishment of media university in Islamabad.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said internet age had changed the paradigm and the importance of ubiquitous social media had increased manifold. He termed it imperative to learn the innovative skills needed to practice and participate in the media industry.
He said media university was being established by merging Pakistan Television, Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation and Information Service Academies into one state of the art landmark university.

The information minister added that curriculum would be devised in consultation with all stakeholders, covering wide range of subjects including the courses on drama production, film and cinema studies.
He said the students would not only be imparted education about news media and other journalistic disciplines, but would also be trained in the best digital technological practices prevalent in the media sector.
The minister sought Chinese telecom company Huawei’s assistance and partnership in the venture of establishing technical school as part of the media university.
Country Head Huawei Saif Chi showed his keen interest to make contribution to the project and briefed the meeting in detail about company’s ongoing collaboration with different educational institutes in Pakistan.
