Govt to present Rs 3.9tr budget today

ISLAMABAD: The PML-N government is all set to present its second budget for the fiscal year 2013-14 today, ARY News reported.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar will present the budget in the National Assembly, with a total outlay of Rs 3.93 trillion and a fiscal deficit of Rs 1.6 trillion which is under 4% of the IMF-prescribed GDP ratio.

According to experts, the economy has witnessed improvement during last 12 months, but load-shedding and circular debt is still a big concern for the incumbent government.

Traders are of the view that government must expand its tax net if it intended to achieve the tax collection target in the next fiscal year.

Increase in salaries and pensions’ is also expected in the budget. The government might also increase the amount for Benazir Income Support Fund.
