Govt to experiment biometric system in NA-19 re-election today

According to details, the re-election in NA-19 Haripur will be held on Sunday (today), where the government will experiment biometric system during the polls, for the first time in Pakistan.

The system has been installed at 30 polling booths in both rural and urban areas.

There are a total of 577480 registered voters in the constituency, while 513 polling stations have been set out of which 42 stations have been declared highly sensitive, 200 sensitive and 262 as normal.

Officials and troops of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) and Police will perform security duties during polls.

The seat fell vacant after the Supreme Court had de-seated PML-N Umar Ayub and ordered a re-election in the constituency.

PTI candidate Amir Zaman had challenged the victory of Umar Ayub.
