Govt to give positive response to Opposition ToRs: sources

A government meeting chaired by the prime minister, discussed the terms of reference of a judicial commission that will inquire into the Panama Leaks.

The meeting that was attended by federal ministers, ruling party officials, advisers and constitutional experts, also devised a strategy to tackle the matter.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties have entrusted the Leader of Opposition Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah to hand over the ToRs proposed by the opposition to the government. Shah will also consult with the opposition parties before writing a letter to the prime minister.

Khursheed Shah, talking to media outside the parliament today, termed the prime minister’s recent address as ‘inappropriate’. It will benefit the opposition, he added.

Moreover, People’s Party leader Aitzaz Ahsan has demanded disclosure of the offshore companies, the names of people behind these businesses and how the money taken out of the country.

Opposition ToRs self-contradictory: Fazl

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, a government ally, has demanded that the probe should be headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

Talking to media in Islamabad, JUI-F leader called the opposition proposed terms of reference as self-contradictory.
