LONDON: With an aim to attract foreign investments in the newly developed port city of Gwadar, a campaign has been launched in the capital of the United Kingdom (UK).
The campaign with banners reading “Gwadar The Gateway to Emerging Pakistan” decking double-decker buses, which roam around the central parts of the British capital, is aimed to target over 10 million people within a span of one month.
The buses carrying the advertisement about Gwadar will be travelling on the routes in the heart of London, which includes areas like Westminster, Oxford Street, Park lane, and Knightsbridge.
Stuart Reid, the Chief Operation Officer of China-Pak Investment Corporation, which has launched the campaign, said investments to the tune of 50 billion dollars flow in London’s financial hub everyday.
The advertisement is likely to draw attention of over 10 million people to Gwadar fast becoming a lucrative investment destination.
He said Pakistan is one of the emerging economic power of Asia and would become the 20th largest economy of the world by 2030.
Gwadar, in particular, will play an instrumental role in trade in the South Asian region in future, he added.
China-Pak Investment Corporation,a leading investment firm in China, in collaboration with top international engineering firms is developing a master community project in Gwadar.
The project is aimed at not only providing accommodation facilities to Chinese professionals, but also attractive investment opportunities to people of Pakistan as well as around the globe.
A spokesperson for a top international engineering firm says the firm will invest around 822 billion dollars in Pakistan, which would significantly benefit Pakistanis.
Stuart Reid said Pakistan’s armed forces are providing safety and security to the port city, which is the safest of Pakistan’s cities.
The local residents of Gwadar are already reaping the benefits of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the development of the port, he added.
Apart from numerous opportunities of employment being provided to the people of Gwardar, they were benefiting from educational, healthcare and other facilities as well.
Gwadar was being compared with Dubai in terms of a lucrative destination for investment. This campaign being run outside Pakistan targets the international market for investment in Gwadar.
It merits mention here that some of the world’s prominent companies, such as Amazon, Apple and Nike, put their advertisements on London buses to draw attention to their products.
