Hamid Gul’s son survives murder attempt

RAWALPINDI: Son of former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) chief Hamid Gul, Abdullah Gul on Friday survived a murder attempt on Islamabad Expressway, ARY News reported.

According to details, Abdullah Gul said his jeep came under fire while he was heading towards Rawalpindi from the capital city.

He said two cars intercepted him and seven to eight bullets were fired at his vehicle.

“Such acts could not weaken our resolve. We will never spare the enemies. There’s no doubt that it is an act of enemies of Pakistan.

“I was attending an event in Islamabad, when I heard the news of attack on Maulana Sami-ul-Haq. I immediately left to visit him all alone and, while on the way through Islamabad Expressway, two vehicles tried to pull over mine. I timely observed weapons in

their hands. Since, I was travelling on jeep so I turned away on the other side of the road and they could not chase me for they had old cars,” he said while telling detailed account of the event to the media.

He said he had written letters to the Ministry of Interior and Home Department Punjab to inform them about the situation.

This incident took hours after assassination of Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-S (JUI-S) chief Maulana Sami-ul-Haq at his residence in Rawalpindi. Speaking to ARY News, the deceased’s son Hamid ul Haq said his father was stabbed to death at his Rawalpindi residence. He said his father was unwell and taking rest at home when he came under the attack.

Abdullah is central leader of Difa-e-Pakistan Council, which was headed by Sami-ul-Haq. Hamid Gul’s son was also central leader of Milli Yekjehti Council.
