The long-speculated ‘Harry Potter’ television series has been officially ordered at HBO Max with a new cast.
The recent development was announced at the investors and general public presentation by Warner Bros Discovery on April 12, highlighting the merger of HBO Max and Discovery+, with the new combined service to be called Max.

According to the details, the ‘decade-long series’ will have each season based upon one of the books of author J.K. Rowling’s best-selling wizarding series, and the show will feature an entirely new cast than the films.
“Each season will be authentic to the original books and bring Harry Potter and these incredible adventures to new audiences around the world, while the original, classic and beloved films will remain at the core of the franchise and available to watch globally,” read the statement by the studio.
“We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way,” Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content, said at the event.
“Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World. In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years,” added Bloys.
The series will be produced by Max in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television, while, Rowling will executive produce the project along with Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts.
