Talking to media after filling nomination papers for by-elections in NA-149, Multan as independent candidate, he said he never intended to resign from assembly seat.
“Some steps were being taken within the party (PTI) against the interest of voters. Speaker had the responsibility to accept the resignations, however he did not. Hence I decided to tender my resignation and appear in person before the speaker.”
He said he returned the authority of people back to them in shape of a resignation.
Hashmi said he didn’t receive any show-cause notice from PTI as yet. He added that Jehangir Tareen was unconstitutional secretary general of the PTI.
He was of the view that hypocrisy by PTI to invite selected people to a container and take decisions was unfortunate. “I am ready to go to the container and present my case to Imran Khan,” he added.
He claimed that PTI youth had rejected Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
