Heart-stopping footage: Lion attacks visitors’ vehicle at Indian wildlife park

BANGALORE: A dramatic footage captured at a wildlife park in India,  showing a male lion charging at a visitor’s vehicle, is going viral on the internet.

It shows the big cat attacking the car inside the Bannerghatta Biological Park, near Bangalore, Karnataka, and has been widely shared on social media.

The lion is seen stalking the grey vehicle before putting his paws on top of the car as audibly anxious visitors watch the drama unfold.

Executives at the park later admitted the driver of the car was at fault for stopping next to the lion and have since removed the member of staff from his duties at the park.

The park’s executive director Santosh Kumar told the Times of India: “The attack took place on January 28 or 29. The driver is clearly at fault.

“He should never have stopped the car, which he probably did to please the visitors. We’ve removed him from safari duty.”

He added: “We are planning to send a proposal to the state government to remove small vehicles like this and retain only safari buses. This will ensure safety of animals as well as that of visitors.”
