LAHORE: At least three people died and more than a dozen others were wounded in different road accidents caused by low visibility owing to heavy fog enveloping plain areas of Punjab on Wednesday morning.
The weather department has predicted that dense foggy conditions are likely to prevail over plains of Punjab and upper Sindh during night and morning hours in the next few days.
According to rescue sources, three people were killed and four others were wounded when several vehicles crashed into each other owing to low visibility on the Motorway near Pindi Bhattian.
Those killed in the mishaps on the spot identified as Muhammad Bakhsh, Muhammad Ajmal and Ghulam Hussain, sources said.
The rescue teams immediately arrived at the spot of the accident and shifted the dead and injured people to a nearby hospital.
In another fog-related incident in Gujrat, at least ten people were injured in different road mishaps, according to rescue officials.
Three vehicles collided owing to zero visibility caused by dense fog in Ferozewala. As result of the collision, three people sustained injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical attendance.
Moreover, heavy fog enveloped provincial capital Lahore, disrupting flights schedule at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport.
