On her birthday, we take a look at her glorious days in Bollywood and everything that followed thereafter in her life.
Being a Nepali, Manisha Koirala’s first film was a Nepali one in the year 1989. She then moved on to Bollywood where she got her break with the film Saudagar. The film was commercially successful and for Manisha there was no turning back.
Like every other actor, she also had to face her share of struggles in this industry. After a number of flops came 1942: A Love Story. The film brought the spot light back on Manisha. Soon, her biggest hit Bombay released, making her one of the top actresses of Bollywood.
Manisha went on to act in hit films such as Akele Hum Akele Tum, Agni Sakshi, Khamoshi: The Musical, Gupt: The Hidden Truth, Dil Se.., Raja Ko Rani Se Pyar Ho Gaya, Mann, Lajja, Company, Anwar etc.
She won several awards like the Filmfare awards, Star Screen awards and also The Smita Patil Memorial Award for her outstanding performances.
Manisha got married in the year 2010 to Samrat Dahal, a businessman. Her marriage didn’t last long, as she and her husband parted ways in 2012. She was then diagnosed with ovarian cancer (rumours says so, the real is not yet disclosed) in the same year. She underwent treatment in the US, after which she was cancer free.
Today, Manisha Koirala is back in the social sphere, very much active. She is into supporting cancer patients and spreading awareness about the disease.
We wish Manisha a very happy birthday and lots of good luck, success and great health in the days to come.
