NEW YORK: While nike stands as a popular brand worldwide Americans in general have taken a different turn as they have started burning and banning Nike products.
Nike recently just revealed a new ” just do it” campaign and apparently it’s featuring an American football player, Colin Kaepernick.
His only downfall being that he went down to one knee during the American national anthem to protest against police brutality against black Americans.
Clearly many people supported the cause as Nike sales skyrocketed after the launch of the campaign but there were some who were not quite happy with the new ad.
Why? well it was deemed disrespectful to attract attention to a political cause while the American National Anthem way playing.
United States President Donald Trump made matters worse as he tweeted against the player and termed their “act” offensive towards America.
And now, an entire American city has decided not to support the athletic company.
The mayor of Kenner, LA has instructed its locals to not buy anything that showcases the Nike logo.
Residents of Kenner have shared on twitter on what seems to be an official city memo that reads:
“Effective immediately all purchases made by any booster club operating at any Kenner Recreation Facility for wearing apparel, shoes, athletic equipment and/or any athletic product must be approved by the Director of Parks and Recreation, or his designee. Under no circumstances will any Nike product or any product with the Nike logo be purchased for use or delivery at any City of Kenner Recreation Facility.”
