ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday extended jail term of former finance chief Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in a graft case, ARY News reported.
The IHC announced extension in seven-year sentence of the officer to 10 years. The verdict was given by IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mian Gul Hassan.
The former PTA officer had filed a petition seeking quashment of his sentence, while the NAB had contended his plea and sought extension in sentence.

The ex-PTA officer is facing charges of Rs 80 million corruption while being in the authority.
Imran Zubairi is accused by the NAB of having role in money laundering and transferring funds to fake bank accounts. The accountability court had sentenced Zubairi to seven years in prison on November 29, 2013.
The court also fined him with Rs70 million, however, it acquitted former manager of National Bank Muhammad Riaz in the same case.
In 2010, NAB had filed a corruption reference against Zuberi for embezzlement of Rs80.175m in the finance department of PTA. According to the reference, Zuberi had opened fabricated accounts in his tenure and used Rs80.175 million for personal gains.
The NAB said Zuberi’s as DG finance opened various accounts in different banks and transferred millions of rupees personally giving a dent to national exchequer.
