Imran, Qadri meet today ahead of ‘all parties conference’

LAHORE: In an effort to make two arch-rivals, PTI chief Imran Khan and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, sit beside him in each other’s presence, Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri will meet the PTI chief today.

Imran Khan will be visiting Dr Tahirul Qadri at his residence in Model Town at his invitation. With the PAT’s “all parties conference” scheduled on December 30, the party chief will try to persuade his political ally to attend the conference.

The Qadri-led PAT has announced to convene the moot on December 30 to hammer out a future course of action to press for their demands in the wake of the release of the Model Town inquiry report.

Qadri had earlier warned Punjab

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Law Minister Rana Sanaullah to resign by December 30 or else he would announce his future course of action, hinting at launching a protest drive to mount pressure on the two to stand down.

Although, the release of an inquiry report on Model Town incident didn’t hold anyone responsible for the police action that led to over a dozen casualties, it afforded the PAT a fresh ground to renew its demand of  the resignation of two key PML-N leaders.

In the wake of the report, a number of political leaders, including PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, visited Model Town residence to pledge their support for whatever course of action the PAT announces get its demands fulfilled.
