Imran should not try to become Bal Thackeray, Marriyum responds to anti-PSL statement

ISLAMABAD: Disdaining Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s statement against holding Pakistan Super League 2017 final in Lahore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Monday said Imran Khan should not try to become Bal Thackeray of Pakistan by giving baseless statements.

Bal Thackeray was an Indian politician who founded a Hindu extremist party, Shiv Sena.

The minister said Imran Khan should think before what he said.

This should be noted that after deliberation the Punjab and federal governments have agreed to holding PSL 2017 final in Lahore despite security threats.

The PTI chief today said the decision of holding PSL 2017 final in Lahore was nothing but plain madness.

“What impression of your country you want to give to the world by holding the mega cricket event amid ultra-high security and closing shops, arteries and roads,” he questioned.

He cautioned that even if a small incident took place, international cricket events would be banned in Pakistan for the next 20 years.

On the other hand, Marriyum Aurangzeb said the decision to hold final of PSL in Lahore is a great news for the nation.

She said the nation would thwart the evil designs of terrorists through its joint efforts.

To a query, the minister of state said the statement of Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari regarding Supreme Court was totally irresponsible.

“Bilawal’s statement is another attempt to threaten institutions,” she said. Marriyum said the opposition wanted to use Panamagate case for political scoring.
