Pemra members refute decisions by acting chief

The members of the Pemra said that the meeting presided by the Rathore was also illegal.

According to details, independent members of Pemra raised several questions on the decisions made by Rathore.

Talking to ARY News, Fariha Iftikhar declared the post of acting chairman as illegal and contrary to Pemra rules. She said that the decisions of acting chief were not being adhered. She added that the punishment announced for Geo TV was also a drama.

The Pemra member told that Geo TV had also not paid the fine, rather it sued the authority in reply.

Mian Shams said that Pervez Rathore was not even authorized to issue directives.

Independent members said that  Rathore was made the acting pemra chief overnight only to fulfill ‘certain’ formalities.

They said that the punishment announced for Geo TV was nothing more than a paperwork. The channel was neither banned, nor it paid the fine, they slammed.
