India assures ‘fool-proof’ security to Pakistan for World T20

President Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Shashank Manohar called up Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shahryar Khan on Tuesday and assured him that fool-proof security arrangements will be made for the side.

It should be noted that Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Virbhadra Singh has refused to host Pakistan for the tournament and demanded the cricketing board to either cancel or shift the match to a different venue.

The fate of the highly-anticipated Pakistan-India match, scheduled to take place on 19th March this year at Dharmshala, is unexpected after the statements by the Himachal Pradesh CM.

BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur, on the other hand, has accused the state of playing politics.

“The Congress-led state government is clearly playing politics. Hundreds of Pakistani athletes were given security during the South Asian Games in Assam, why can’t the Himachal government do the same?” BCCI secretary asked.

“The venues of the World Cup matches were decided one year ago, the allotment of matches was decided six months ago. People all over have made bookings and it is not fair to give such statements at the last minute”, he said.

In his tweet, Thakur said that the fans, tourists and the organizers of the mega event have made their plans according to the schedule.
