India beat Pakistan to clinch Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup

BANGKOK: India defeated Pakistan by 17 runs to clinch the Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup on Sunday, ARY News reported.

India won the toss and chose to bat in the final between the two arch-rivals.

India, led by their skipper Mithali Raj, scored 121/5 in their given 20 overs. She scored an unbeaten knock of 73 runs from 65 balls which included seven boundaries and a six.

Jhulan Goswami scored 17 runs for India while Sabbhineni Meghana and Harmanpreet Kaur contributed nine and five runs with the bat respectively.

Anam Amin took two wickets for Pakistan while Sana Mir and Sadia Yousuf dismissed one Indian batswomen each.

Pakistan, chasing 122 runs to win the Women’s T20 Asia Cup, scored 104/6 in their alloted 20 overs.

Skipper Bismah Maroof was the highest scorer for the team as she made 25 runs from 26 balls with two boundaries to her name.

Javeria Khan scored 22 runs off 26 deliveries after hitting two fours as well.

Sana Mir and Nida Dar also contributed 12 runs with the blade.

Ekta Bisht took two wickets for India while Anuja Patil, Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey and Preeti Bose grabbed one wicket each as well.
