The Indian board has been adamant to send the team to the the United Arab Emirates for the bilateral series, as required according to a MoU signed by the two boards.
According to media reports the two sides will likely to play a series in Sri Lanka.
Sources said that Pakistan’s profit in the series will go down if it was not hosted in the United Arab Emirates. Pakistan is expected to earn $20 million if the series is played against India. If the test series will be played in Sri Lanka, the host country will also financially benefit from it.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has contacted the government seeking permission to play against India.
Earlier, PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan had said that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was busy and his one on one meeting with the premier was not to be materialized.
The sore cricketing ties between the two South Asian countries stooped to a new low when activists of Hindu extremist group Shiv Sena disrupted the meeting between the President of BCCI Shashank Manohar and his Pakistani counterpart Shahryar Khan at BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.
BCCI is insisting that India should host the upcoming series but Pakistan wants the series to be played in UAE.
