A top official of the Indian home ministry claimed that ‘Dawood had been in Karachi some 15 days ago, but has since been moved to Pak-Afghan border region’.
“We have identified five-six positions where the underworld don is shifted on regular basis,” said the official, accusing Pakistan authorities to be facilitating Dawood. “He is never kept at one place for more than a month.”
Indian authorities said that Dawood frequently travels outside Pakistan, especially to Central Asian countries, as suggested by recent intelligence inputs.
India has long been pressing Pakistan for the arrest of Dawood Ibrahim, accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts, despite giving any concrete information on his whereabouts.
Pakistan has time and again denied Dawood’s presence within its territory and urged the Indian authorities to share intelligence on the underworld don, but so far no credible information has been shared.
The neighboring state keeps asking for Dawood’s arrest based on its own set of assumptions.
