RAWALPINDI: Indian forces opened unprovoked fire at Shahkot sector along the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday morning, ARY News reported.
According to a statement of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the military, Indian border forces opened firing at the Pakistani side of the border this morning. The firing began at 07.40 am local time, ISPR stated.
Pakistani forces gave a befitting response to the Indian aggression and silenced their guns.
No casualties were reported in the firing, the statement further said.
Pakistan and India are at loggerheads as the Narendra Modi-led Indian government accuses Pakistan for an attack on Indian military base in Uri sector of the Occupied Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 19 Indian troops.
The incident caused an escalation on the borders. Indian Director General of Military Operations, after an incident of the cross border firing, claimed that the country’s forces carried out surgical strikes within Pakistan.
No evidences regarding the so-called surgical strikes were found, which questioned the credibility of the Indian statement.
Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif had earlier said that the armed forces are ready to deal with all kind of hostilities and will give a befitting response to any adventurism.
