It’s inevitable to bring true teachings of Islam before world: FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Wednesday said that it was inevitable to bring true teachings of Islam before the world, ARY News reported.

“Islam is the religion of peace, love and tolerance,” Shah Mahmood Qureshi said in a meeting with General Secretary Wafaqul Madaris Qari Hanif Jalandhari.

Both the leaders discussed different topics of mutual interests including interreligious harmony.

The foreign minister said an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was held following the tragic massacre incident in New Zealand.

The meeting had issued a six-point joint statement on the killing of Muslims and Islamophobia, he said.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi said out of the six points, four points were suggested by Pakistan in the meeting.

Hanif Jalandhari thanked the minister for raising the issue with the OIC.

Against the backdrop of a terror attack on two Christchurch mosques in New Zealand, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution titled “Countering terrorism and other acts of violence based on religious and belief,” ARY News reported on Wednesday.

It strongly condemned continuing violence and acts of terrorism targeting individuals, including persons belonging to religious minorities, based on religion or belief.

The resolution came during a meeting convened in the wake of the horrific mosques attack, in which 50 people were killed and 50 others injured in March.
