Star Gate protest: IG Sindh orders inquiry against Malir police as Rao Anwar goes on leave

KARACHI: Inspector General of Sindh Police AD Khawaja has directed Additional IGP Karachi Mushtaq Mehar to hold inquiry into the incident of firing which left a number of Tehreek Labbaik protesters injured on November 25 in Malir district of Karachi, ARY News reported.

Surprisingly SSP Malir Rao Anwar has been granted a 14-day casual leave which means he will rejoin his post on Dec 13, while the report in the incident has to be submitted by Dec 11.

The IG Sindh directed Mushtaq Mehar to personally conduct the inquiry and identify the circumstances leading to injuries of 27 protesters including SHO Memon Goth and Police Constable Sabir and gunman of SP Malir division.

He ordered to determine if the use of force to that extend was warranted or not.

“The inquiry officer shall submit his finding by December 11, 2017, for perusal of IG Sindh,” said the notification in this regard.

On the other hand, Rao Anwar on Thursday requested for leaves and was granted casual leaves the same day for 14 days from Nov 30 to Dec 13, while the inquiry has been ordered from him.
