KARACHI: A magisterial court on Saturday gave more time to the police to submit a charge-sheet against former Sindh minister Sharjeel Memon and others in a case pertaining to recovery of liquor bottles from his hospital room.
The Judicial Magistrate South took up the case as three accused, who are out on bail, appeared in the court.
Memon, who has also been nominated in the case, was not brought to the court from Central Jail, Karachi for the hearing of the case.
The investigation officer requested the judge to allow some time for submission of the charge-sheet.
While granting his request, the judicial magistrate adjourned the hearing till Sept 18.
Earlier, the court had ordered release of the suspects – Muhammad Jam, Shakar Din, and Muhammad Mushtaque – on bail.
On September 1, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar paid a surprise visit to the Ziauddin Hospital where he found three bottles of liquor in the room of the incarcerated PPP leader.
Subsequently, Memon was shifted to Central Jail, Karachi and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against him with the Boat Basin police station.
