LAHORE: Chairman Pakistan Super League (PSL) Najam Sethi on Saturday clarified that cricketer Mohammad Irfan has been questioned as part of an ongoing investigation into corruption but has not been suspended from the PSL.
Sethi made the statement on Twitter and said that the anti-corruption unit of the Pakistan Cricket Board will remain vigilant and continue to protect the PSL from the menace of corruption.
Irfan is part of the Islamabad United team during the ongoing season of the PSL underway in Dubai. He is available to play for the match against Lahore Qalandars on Saturday.
The PCB on Friday provisionally suspended the duo of Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif also from the Islamabad United over corruption allegations.
The PCB released a statement that both were suspended as part of an ongoing investigation into an international syndicate which is believed to be attempting to corrupt the PSL.
It further said that they have been suspended and the rigorous and wide-ranging investigation by the PCB supported by the ICC will continue as part of collective efforts to protect the integrity of the sport.
