Islamabad admin offers alternate venues to govt, Opp for rallies

ISLAMABAD: The local administration in Islamabad has asked government and opposition to change venues of their public gatherings in the capital and proposed alternate venues to them, ARY NEWS reported.

According to sources privy to the matter, the Islamabad administration has suggested the government to change venue of its public gathering on March 27 and shift it to the Parade Ground Parking area.

Moreover, they further said that the opposition has also agreed to change venue of its public gathering from D-chowk after the government agreed to change its venue. “The local administration has offered opposition to hold the gathering at sector H-9,” they said.

The sources in district administration said that the government is yet to submit application for obtaining permission for the new venue after section 144 has been imposed in the red zone and one kilometer outside of it.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday shared the logo of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) rally in Islamabad on March 27 ahead of a no-trust move against him and said that he wanted all records of attendance to be broken on the day.

Taking to Twitter from his personal handle, the prime minister in a series of messages said that he wanted all records to be broken of public attendance to fight for the soul of Pakistan.

“We stand with what is right and condemn such shameless buying of politicians’ souls by political mafias to protect their looted wealth,” PM Imran Khan said.

On the other hand, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced joint opposition’s long march towards Islamabad on March 23.

PPP and ANP later announced to join the march towards Islamabad ahead of the no-trust vote against PM Imran Khan.
