LAHORE: Islamabad United’s Australian coach Dean Jones on Saturday announced his arrival in Lahore for the Pakistan Super League 2017 final, ARY News reported.
The news is surprising for the Aussie star’s local and foreign fans as his team has not qualified for finals and lost the play-off to Karachi Kings. Additionally, foreign players from the finalist Quetta Gladiators refused to come to Lahore for the final citing security concerns.
Jones, in his tweet, also lauded Pakistan’s airport and policemen for ‘fantastic’ security arrangements while hoping to spend a good time in the city. Under Dean Jones’ coaching, Islamabad United won the PSL’s first edition.
Never shying to show his love for cricket and Pakistan, Jones was spotted eating the traditional Lahori food in Dubai.
“If the food is this good, I am going (to Lahore),” said Dean Jones in the video
Finalists Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi will fight for the coveted trophy in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday. Peshawar Zalmi’s owner Javed Afridi had said that all his foreign players will come to the city while Quetta Gladiators had to choose from a new pool of players who were ready to come to Lahore.
