The Judicial Activism Panel (JAP) served a legal notice on Afridi and asked him to clarify his statement in which he said, “I always enjoy playing in India than any other country. Me and my get more love here than Pakistan.” He had stated this while addressing a press conference in Kolkata yesterday.
The lawyers’ panel said the captain must explain why he gave such a statement. The JAP claimed that Afridi’s remarks hurt the sentiments of the nation.
In case he does file a reply, a legal proceeding could be launched against him, said the JAP notice.
Many people termed his statement a courtesy remarks that should not be made controversial while others considered them to be ‘insult of the country.’
Some former cricketers said nation should back the team as it was in India to play the mega event and refrain from making a mountain out of a molehill.
