Justice Yawar sworn in as Chief Justice LHC

LAHORE: Justice Muhammad Yawar Ali on Wednesday took oath as chief justice of the Lahore High Court (LHC) at a ceremony held at Governor House.

Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafique Rajwana administered oath to him.

Chief Justice Muhammad Yawar Ali was elevated to the bench as additional judge of the high court on Feb 19, 2010. Before elevation to the bench, he had served as deputy attorney general for Pakistan and the additional advocate general for Punjab.

He will retire on Oct 22, 2018.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Provincial Ministers and legal fraternity attended the ceremony.

Later, new Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Justice Muhammad Yawar Ali called on Punjab Governor Malik Rafique Rajwana and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Lahore.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said formation of a peaceful and strong society is possible only through justice, for which all institutions should play their due role.

The Chief Minister said provision of justice to a common man at his door step is the basic point of the manifesto of PML-N.
