Kamal calls upon MQM leaders to get ‘refreshed’ mandate

He was addressing a press conference where he said that and said PSP will not contest against them. Kamal said that people in PS-127 voted against those who misled and lied to them.

MQM lost the PS-127 by-poll to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate with a margin of 6,000 votes. The Mutahidda has already refused to accept the results and decided to approach election tribunal and court to challenge the results. The party said its mandate was hijacked through violent tactics in the constituency.

Kamal said MQM’s vote count stood 60,000 in 2013 general elections in the same constituency that had now been reduced to 15,000 in the fresh by-polls. “And we very well know how half of the votes were cast,” he alleged.

It’s the biggest verdict, he said, given by the people after 30 years.

He said MQM leaders must tell voters they had no links with Altaf Hussain. The PSP leader accused Farooq Sattar of playing a ‘double game’.

He claimed that some MQM leaders including Farooq Sattar were waiting for party chief to die so they could take hold of party reigns.

“But it’s the God that gives you power,” he said.

He said voter turnout in all by-poll was no more than seven percent, which showed people’s least interest in the MQM.
