KARACHI: Police has arrested 16 suspected criminals in a raid at Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area, ARY News reported on Friday.
According to details, Sohrab Goth Police carried out a search operation and arrested 16 suspects including six accused booked in a number of cases.
Two pistols, 86 bullets and 6.5 kilograms of hashish were recovered from the possession of the accused during the police raid.
Moreover, 35 people were arrested from the jurisdiction of Gizri Police Station over one-wheeling. The law enforcement personnel also seized 24 motorcycle from the accused.
Hundreds of suspects have been rounded up in the Rangers-led targeted operation in Karachi since September 2013.
The government had decided to launch targeted operations against terrorists and other criminals following an increase in targeted killings, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, gang war and other criminal activities in Karachi.
The crackdown against criminals has created a semblance of calm and peace in the city appreciated by the citizens. Some political parties, however, expressed their reservations against the law and order operations in the metropolis claiming that their workers being unduly targeted by the law enforcement agencies.
