Chilling details emerge in Karachi Bhittaiabad triple murder case

KARACHI: An FIR has been registered at Malir Cantt Police Station in connection with the brutal killing of three women and the injuring of two others in Bhittaiabad, Gulistan-e-Johar.

According to the complaint filed by Shan, who works at a college in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, the incident took place inside his home in Bhittaiabad, where he lived with his wife and children. Shan stated he was at work when his younger sister informed him that his niece, Nandini Lal, had been attacked.

Upon reaching the house, he found blood spread across the rooms. His sisters, Aashi and Tania, and his wife, Meena, were lying dead. His niece Nandini and neighbor, Priya, were critically injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

In her statement, Nandini alleged that their maternal uncle, Ajay, attacked the family with a knife, killing three women and attempting to slit her throat as well. Police confirmed the accused also tried to injure himself and was taken into custody in a wounded condition.

Earlier, Karachi police said investigations were underway into the shocking Bhittaiabad tragedy, which has left residents of Karachi deeply shaken.

Following the incident, a heavy contingent of law enforcement and the crime scene unit reached the spot and began collecting evidence.

Initial investigations have yet to determine the motive behind the killings, but authorities confirmed that a thorough probe is underway.

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar has taken notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from SSP Malir.

He directed police to conduct a transparent investigation, uncover the motive, and ensure strict punishment for those responsible.

In February this year, a man shot dead his niece and daughter-in-law in the name of honour during their court appearance in Punjab’s Pakpatan city.

The deceased victim, who had contracted a freewill marriage with Zahid Nawaz, appeared before the court to record her statement but was shot dead on the court premises by her uncle.
