KARACHI: A man has been arrested in Karachi’s Qayyumabad area for allegedly sexually abusing two minor girls, ARY News reported.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage on social media as two minor girls, aged 10 and 12, were allegedly assaulted by a local area man identified as Shabbir Ahmed.
The incident has caused aggression among residents, who caught the suspect and handed him over to the police after giving him physical punishment.
According to police authorities, the suspect had a history of unacceptable behaviour and had previously molested other young girls.
The victims confirmed that Shabbir Ahmed had committed misconduct on several occasions. A First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Defence Police Station under sections for the case of child sexual abuse, because of the complaint filed by the victims’ family.
During the investigation, officials seized numerous videos from the mobile phone of the suspect, which indicate similar unlawful acts committed by the suspect.
Police officials have sent the videos for forensic analysis, and police are working to find other victims through the footage.
Police sources revealed that Shabbir Ahmed has had three cases similar to the recent case of child sexual abuse registered against him within the past week and is suspected of abusing several minors over time.
The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement has assured the public of a thorough inquiry into the matter.
This incident adds to growing concerns about child safety in Karachi, where cases of abduction and abuse have seen a troubling rise.
