The Home Secretary Sindh, Niaz Abbasi told that the ban was imposed after a request made by the Sindh Police, in the wake of worsened law and order situation of the metropolis.
Sindh Police had requested the authorities to restrict pillion-riding in the city for ten days, due to increasing number of target killings, sectarian target-killings and other street crimes, however journalists women and elderly people will be exempted from this.
This has been a normal practice, yet the ban has never proven to be fruitful in scaling down increasing number of crimes.
