Karachi plunges into darkness as city receives first winter rain

KARACHI: Karachi on Sunday plunged into darkness as the city experienced the first rain of winter season, ARY News reported.

According to the details, the downpour reported in SITE area, Nazimabad, Tariq Road, Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and other areas of the city.

It is pertinent to mention here that K-Electric’s power transmission system collapsed as the first drop of rain fell in the city.

Earlier, MET office, had predicted showers at the scattered places of city as overcast weather is being witnessed in Karachi since morning.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department had predicted rain at isolated places in Karachi, Sukkur, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Multan, D.I. Khan, Bannu and Makran divisions during the next 24 hours.

Cloudy weather is expected in northern parts of the country, with rain likely at scattered places in Quetta, Zhob, Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, D.G. Khan divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.
