10 suspects arrested in Karachi police crackdown

KARACHI: Police arrested at least 10 suspects for their involvement in various crimes in overnight raids on Friday in Mominabad and Ittehad Town localities of the metropolis.

The arrests were made in the ongoing crackdown against unscrupulous elements in the city.

According to police sources, seven suspects were arrested in Mominabad locality of Karachi. The arrested men said were involved in drug-peddling, snatching, and other heinous crimes, sources said. A stolen rickshaw and motorcycle, besides illegal weapons and narcotics were also seized from the possession of the accused, police claimed.

In another overnight raid at Ittehad Town, police arrested three more suspects in connection with their involvement in various street crimes in the city.

Police, however, gave no details with regard to identities of the arrested suspects.

Police Encounter

Moreover, at least two suspected robbers – whose identification could not be ascertained – were gunned down in a police encounter in Okara city of Punjab.

Police claimed to recover a stolen motorcycle and a weapon from the possession of slain bandits.

Multan clashes

At least three people were injured in clashes between two rival groups in the vicinity of Multan in Qasba Maral area, local police said.

The identities of the injured could not be ascertained immediately.
