Karachi: Three injured in port oil depot blaze

KARACHI: At least three people sustained burn injuries as fire broke out at an oil depot after an explosion in port area of Kemari on Wednesday morning in Karachi, ARY News reported.

According to details, the fire broke out in an oil depot at Terminal 1 of Karachi Port. Two employees of the seaport sustained burn injuries in the blaze.

Fire tenders and rescue teams reached to the scene, after receiving information of the incident. The firemen managed to extinguish the blaze before it could intensify and spread to other areas.

One of the rescue workers was also injured during the firefighting operation.

The oil tankers were prohibited to dock at the depot due to which a queue of ships witnessed at the seaport.

It should be noted that at least 17 people lost their lives while over 60 workers were wounded after blasts ripped through an oil tanker at a ship-breaking yard in Gadani in Balochistan near Karachi.

It took three long days to firefighters to put out the massive fire that broke out on November 1st.
