ISLAMABAD: Kashmiris living on both sides of the Line of Control will observe Accession to Pakistan Day on Wednesday.
The day is observed on July 19 every year to commemorate the historic resolution adopted from the platform of All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference in Srinagar in 1947, demanding Kashmir’s accession to Pakistan in accordance with the partition plan.
The resolution reflects the aspirations of the majority of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Muslims of Kashmir took this decision of accession to Pakistan to protect their religious, economic and political rights.
The Accession to Pakistan Day is celebrated to rededicate all energies and resources to continue the liberation movement. Kashmiris want that India should withdraw its forces from the occupied territory and allow the people to decide their own destiny.
The United Nations has also granted the Kashmiris the right to decide their future through a plebiscite, but India is denying them this right.
