Katy Perry gave fans quite a fright during her Lifetimes Tour stop in San Francisco on 18 July, when a stage prop malfunctioned mid-performance and the video of the incident has since gone viral.

The pop superstar was singing her hit track Roar while suspended above the crowd at the Chase Center, riding a large butterfly-shaped prop.

As the performance continued, the prop suddenly tilted and dropped, causing Katy Perry to lose her balance for a moment.

Despite the scare, the 13-time Grammy nominee held on tightly and managed to stay composed, carrying on with the song in true professional style.

Fan videos of the moment quickly spread online, showing Perry clinging to the prop and glancing at the wires above her.
