ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Friday reiterated firm commitment to complete all development projects including those under China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) on fast track basis.
Chairing the first meeting of his cabinet held in Islamabad, Khaqan Abbasi has expressed the resolve to continue the journey of progress and democracy initiated by the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif who was disqualified by the Supreme Court in Panama Leaks case.
He said all the projects including CPEC, infrastructure, energy and economic revival of the country would be executed on the priority basis.
Khaqan Abbasi will hold the office of prime minister till next general elections in 2018, sources within the ruling party Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) revealed.

They said Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, who is supposed to contest election on NA-120 seat which lies vacant after former PM Nawaz Sharif’s ouster following his disqualification, will not leave his Punjab office as it is stronghold of the party.
The sources added that Nawaz’s spouse Kulsoom Nawaz was being considered to be nominated to contest election against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s Dr Yasmin Rashid.
It seems that this new development is an afterthought as earlier on July 29 Railways Minister Saad Rafique through his social media account had announced that the party had consensus on electing Shahbaz Sharif as new PM.
