Govt hospital’s doctor caught red handed sexually harassing job candidate

KARACHI: Another case of sexual harassment surfaced from the government hospital of Korangi, as the team of ARY’s program Sar-e-Aam caught the facility’s medical superintendent red handed while making sexual advances towards a female job candidate.

By the efforts of Team Sar-e-Aam, Dr. Farrukh, who is the assistant medical superintendent of the hospital, was filmed on camera groping a woman on the pretext of giving her a job at the hospital.

Following the unfortunate incident, the police reached the hospital, however, they refused to take the culprit to the station.

The assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police said, unless the station house officer (SHO) orders, Dr. Farrukh can not be taken to the station.

Upon contacting the SHO, he started detailing his tight schedule with the court’s hearings and assured to visit the hospital afterwards.

To report the matter, Sar-r-Aam team tried approaching the senior superintendent police (SSP), but he did not answer his phone.

Later, the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) arrived at the medical facility to only complicate the matter further. Instead of arresting the harasser doctors, the DSP went inside the hospital and advised the Sar-e-Aam team to go and leave the matter on the police officials.

It is worth mentioning that it is the second case of such nature from the very government hospital of Korangi, Karachi.

Asmat’s murder case

Last month, the death of a 19-year-old girl, Asmat, at the same government hospital, who was previously reported to have died owing to administration of wrong injection, had turned out to be a case of rape and murder.

Citing the victim woman’s autopsy report, the Korangi police had confirmed she was administered a poisonous injection after being subjected to sexual assault at the hospital located in Korangi No.5.
