LAHORE: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Saturday heard the suo moto case of manhandling of a policeman by lawyers at Lahore registry of the apex court, ARY News reported.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar had taken notice of the assault by lawyers on a police sub-inspector after video of the incident was aired on television channels.
The bench has also summoned the I.G. Police Punjab for the hearing today.
The members of the Bar Association gathered outside the Lahore registry of the Supreme Court and chanted slogans.
A large number of the black coats enter in the court compound and chanted slogans for their demands.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Lahore Bar Association in a previous protest against the hearing had announced its next general house meeting in the Supreme Court on Oct 13 (today).
The Chief Justice had taken notice of the incident and summoned IGP Punjab for today along with a report on the incident.
Pakistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Ahsan Bhoon, president and general secretary of the Lahore Bar were also asked to attend the hearing.
